Slip Sliding Around
Life is like sliding down a steep and slippery roof, the edge of which
is the apparent DEATH of the known and the knower. No one knows how close
to the edge they really are. We may think we are a long way from the edge
and as we are thinking this thought, BOOM! We get hit by a bus. Over the
edge we go!
No one (except me!) really knows what is over the edge, so we are terrified
by this UNKNOWN and UNKNOWABLE little detail of life. We resist going
over the edge at all cost, no matter how miserable and insane this makes
our lives. Yet, no matter what we do, we are always sliding towards the
edge. This creates what is commonly known as free-floating anxiety. We
end up resisting life, no matter how long or short it may turn out to
be.
The multi-billion-dollar business of medical terrorism is founded on
this overwhelming fear most people have of going over the edge. (Have
you had your prostate test yet? Or Pap smear? How about colonoscopy? You
could die if you don’t, you know.) People will and do pay any price
to avoid the void. Nonetheless, over the edge they go. Oftentimes the
very treatment they are receiving to prevent the inevitable just speeds
up the process.
What to do? Nothing. Relax. Enjoy the ride. Stop avoiding the void. A
big surprise is waiting for you and part of the fun is that you never
know when you’ll get it. From the moment you were conceived, you
started the downward slide towards the edge.
The edge of what?
I like playing the edge. It is much less expensive than the distractions
of the cancer of consumerism, religion, and medical terrorism, just to
name a few. And much more fun.
Slip sliding around. See you at the edge! Where we always already are.
